Social grants will increase monthly income for individuals beginning in March 2026. Individuals who receive the Disability Grant and the Old Age Grant now receive R2,315 per month. The total cost of these grants will increase for couples.
While the Child Support Grant, the Foster Care Grant, and the Care Dependency Grant—all for children—only slightly increased, the War Veterans Grant has also increased. This makes it easier for families to pay for daily necessities expenses.
When Will the Grants Receive Additional Funding?
The larger grant amounts will be displayed in the March 2026 payment cycle. SASSA will continue to use its staggered payment system, which distributes funds to elderly individuals first, followed by those with disabilities, and children. The money will be deposited directly into the beneficiaries bank accounts, SASSA cards, or authorized retailers.
It is important for beneficiaries to understand that they are not required to withdraw their funds on the day of payment. After it is deposited, it will remain there.

The increased amounts will be automatically distributed to all current beneficiaries who satisfy SASSA’s requirements. To determine a person’s eligibility, the means test considers both their assets and income. Additionally, you must be a citizen or permanent resident of South Africa.
